Pilot/consultation grant recipients announced

Thank you to all who submitting applications for the Transforming Chaplaincy – APC Pilot / Consultation Grant program. We’re pleased to announce three recipient teams:

  • (Pilot) Emilee Walker-Cornetta, Joel Nightingale Berning, Matthew R. Baldwin, and Natalie Yip, Columbia University Irving Medical Center: “Reducing Initial Barriers to Spiritual Care for Patients and Families with Limited English Proficiency: Developing and Testing a Cross-Language Chaplaincy Introduction Tool.”
    • The grant team further welcomes participation by chaplains fluent in, and ideally native speakers of, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Arabic, Russian, Japanese, Hindi, Farsi, Italian, Gujarati, Urdu, and Khmer. Interested chaplains should email eaw9007@nyp.org or job9122@nyp.org.
  • (Pilot) Lance Laird, Samsiah Abdul-Majid, and Shared Hosein: “Muslim Healthcare Chaplaincy in the US: Voices from the Margin.”
  • (Consultation) Scott Irwin, Christina Shu, Jason Weiner, and Pamela Lazor, Cedars-Sinai: “Do patients who receive a visit from a faith-concordant chaplain experience more spiritual well-being and an increase in religious coping, as compared to patients who receive a visit from a chaplain of a different faith?”
